1. In July 1950 at Turnu Severin six 1,000 ton river boats were under construction
and were to be completed in early October for Volga and Dnieper River traffic
Two 5,000 ton towboats were also wader construction and scheduled for com-
letioa in the spring of 1951. Ten minesweepers were almost completed in
July 1950, four of them were reportedly scheduled to be sent to Albania.
2. At Oltenita three 1,000 ton Soviet river boats w id 14 minesweepers of about
three hun6ad tons each were completed recently.
3. In Braila during August and September 1950 at the First of May Shipyard, the
following was observed:
a. Fourteen 19000 ton river boats were wader construction and were to be
completed in one year.
bo Eighteen 300 ton minesweepers were completed and were to be turned over
to the Soviet Union. They left for Constanta0
c, Thirty-five 200 to 300 ton minesweepers were under construction and
were to be completed within a year.
4. During August and September 1-;50 the following was observed at the IRN
Shipyard (Industries Romana Nava1g)
a, Four 1,000 to 1,200 ton destroyers with two guns astern, two on the
bow, four anti-aircraft guns on each side,, and six to seven anti

aircr i . .glans on the topside 0 The engines are not yet in place, but
the ships are floating in the harbor.
ba Two 1,000 ton lighters were completed and were seen in use in the
harbor.

6, In the Neptiua Shipyard at Galati the following was observed.,
as Eight 300 ton minesweepers were completed and floating in the harbor.
b. About 12 minesweepers were in the harbor being painted
7. A span.'.sh 8,000 ton freighter formerly owned by Germany and now in Rumanian
hands ?as seen at Constantaa In Galati it was equipped with gun emplacements
on ti,a bow, stern, and other sections of the ship,
8, Twr? motor barges, which have a capacity of two tanks or two trucks each,
transDort material across the river at Braila. They are each twenty meters
