The photography of the area. was compared and studied primarily to locate and describe any unidentified. unusual installations that might possibly be related to guided missile activity, and also to locate and identify any items of intelligence sigxiificance'. r In the approximately 8, 000-square-nautical-mile area covered by the accompanying photomosaic, no unidentified unusual installations were observed that appeared to bear any relation to the Soviet guided missile program. Items of intelligence interest were observed at the following locations. They are numbered to correspond to the numbers on the accompanying photomosaic. KARABULAK Sugar refinery. 5. KARATALDY Several unidentified industries are located in this expanding urban area. These industries may be associated with the lead and zinc mining in the area. 6. TEKELI Lead and zinc minin area. The locations of the lead and zinc lant and power plant reporte to e in this area could not be confirmed from a study of KEYHOLE photography. These plants are probably located at Karataldy, 6 km to the northwest, where industrial plants are evident. 7. SARY-OZEK RR station, yards and shops (see CIA/PIC/B-1005/ 61, Jun 61, 2bA1 61 Jun 61 S 25X1 IPOL storage, 14 tanks. Grain elevator and warehouses. Military barracks and training area. 8. KOS-KUDUK RR station, yards and shops (see CIA - 1003/ 9. 11 11 POL storage, 11 tanks. River port and warehouse storage area. Krug sit 15 nm NE of Ui. An associated barracks and support area is located 2 nm NW of the Krug site. (see Air Force Summary PI report, T-58-7, May 58, TSC).
