ABSTRACT: In carrying out one of the experiments for the synthesis of
methylolnetacrylamide according to Feuerj Lynch ( Fayer i

which.until now /has not been identified as dimetacrylamido-
dimethylether. Many experiments to isolate this product from
the mixture of final products of the above synthesis did not
succeeds which also was the-reason for investifrating the con.-
version reaction of mothylolmetacrylamide more in detail, The

have to form asafir-al product in tne synthesis of methylene-
dimetacrylamide in the presence of acidous catalysts the be-
haviour of methylolmetacrylamide in the presence of acidous
catalysts was investi&ated. On heating of the latter with a
small amount of hydrochloric acid i. could be converted into
the dimetacrylamidodimethylether. In the case of increased
concentration this other was convex+,-d to the already known
methylenedimetacryl:-1mide (ace roaction schome), According to
the data by Fwaer ond lyrch,,the Rethylolmetanrylamide polymerizes
on heating in the presence of mineral acids and boron chloride

ABSTRACT: In recent years the giUberellines - new physiologically active
su'astances - have drawn the attention of large circles of
IDotanists and plant growers. They have a great influence on
growth and development of plants as well as upon their different
physiological manifestations and formation processes (Refs
5, 14). Gilbloerellines are o'btained from the secretions of the
fungus Fusarium moniliforme (sexual stage is Gi'~Uer-ellla
FuJikuroi on rice). At the woment these suUstancos are produced
Uy special institutes in the USA (S. Sh. A.), England (Angliya)

from the fungus Fusarium.sp. which was isolated from a Uefallen
vine. The furgus grows well on different culture media 'both '.n
the case of simple synthetic and composed organic media. It's
character and formation are loriefly descrlUed~ It differs from
the race which is typical for Fusarium motiliforme. Differences
are shown on figure 1. Fusarium, sp, produced the active sulp-
stance on the two following media: 1) MgCO 3 0,3 g,NaCl 0;2;
KNO3 1p0 g, FeSO4 09001 gq saocharosis 20 g, tap-water I

was carried out according to Stodola and others (Ref !3). The
preparations Ir 1 and 2 were isolated. Wr 1 was more effective
in the case of peas, cucum'~ers; maize2 vet-ches and others than
Mr 2 with respect to acceleration of growth and mass increase.
The root system is not activated by any other preparation. The
results of the main tests show (Figs 1, 2, Ta*ble 1) that the

BSTRACT: The article considers the problem of the choice of the
aximum permissible mean beat load for the surface of a fuel element in
water-water vapor reactor under pressure, with cosinusoidal evolution
f beat over its height and subcooling at the outlet of the channel>
OOC. At the present timeo to'make sure that the best load at any
oint over tbe.beight of the fuel element does not exceed the
orresponding critical beat flux, the maximum beat load is generally
aken lower than the minimum critical beat flux, The article shows by
atbematical anal-ysis that, in addition to the necessery reserve
oefficient, there is a latent reserve wbicb leads to a decrease in the

calculated mean beat load of the surface of the fuel element and,
consequently, to an increase In theldimensions of the re9ctor* To
eliminate this latent reserve, it iA necessary to determine the heat
load at that point on the height of the fuel element at which the
reserve coefficient is at a minimum. In this case, we get the maximum
possible mean beat load and, consequently, minimum dimensions for the
reactor. After an extended matbematical development, the article
presents a formula which, it is claimed, allows an increase of
approximately 30% in the calculated mean beat load of the surface of the
fuel element. Orig. art, bas: 23 formulas and 2 figures,

ABSTRACT: Two,-methods pf dynamic optimization, namely, the method of

TEXT: Methods are considered for automatic determination of the
extremal values of non-periodic processes by electronic computers.
A function of type n = f(t) is considered, whose graph is given;
n is the ordinate of the curve and t - the time. The possible use
of electric differentiation of this function is considered. In this
case the function n = f(t) can be represented by the voltage U =
= k 0n, proportional to the ordinate at each moment of time. The de-
rivative of the function can be found by a differentiating RC-cir-
cuit. This method, however, poses serious difficulties. Another

method involves fixing the sign change of the increment of the
function. Thereby, the continuous function is transformed into a
quantized signal and all subsequent operations are carried out with
discrete quantities. Below, several schemes of automatic devioeb
are considered, based on the above method of finding and fixing
extremal values. First, a relay servomechanism is considered. The
function n = f(t) can be re*presented as a pulse which is commuted
im different channels. Each channel corresponds to a certain le-e!
of the continuous function. The dignal arrives at the inputs of the
device in the form of discrete values which express the number of
the commuting channel. The operation of such a scheme involves se-
-veral relays. The scheme is fairly simple; its operation does not
depend on the frequency range of the process under investigaticr.
In principle, it should yield any required degree of accura.~Iy of
decoding; in practice, however, the device iij too cumbersome fo-r
high--a,-,curacy requirements. Another scheme is the comparator ar:heme.
Its operation involves the comparison of the input voltage with the
voltage on a capacitor. Thereby, a current flows through the ei.r---

cuit and closes a contact; this fixes the moment of passage through
the extremum. This principle can be incorporated in fast electron.J.-I
computers. As an example, a device is considered where a step ir,
put is applied to the comparator cell. This device is stable in
operation up to frequencies of 50000 - 100000 cycles. The advanta-
ges of the comparator scheme are: The amplitude of the signal is
entirely independent of the curvature of the wave-fronts and of the
frequency of the process; it cannot be smaller than the known po-.
tential difference between 2 neighboring discrete leve_~. Automatic
devices based on the comparator scheme are simple and handy in ope-
ration. Their speed is only determined by the rate of switching of
the trigger circuit, and can attain 0.5 - 1 million comparison-.
operations per second. There are 5 figures and 4 Soviet-bloc re-
ferences.
