Pressure by Iraq and other Arab radicals remains
strong both on Sudan and on its chief economic benefactor,
Saudi Arabia, and may increase further at next month's
Arab summit. The Saudis have continued their financial
aid to Sudan, but acknowledge that their refusal to pro-
vide funds specifically earmarked for Sudan's purchase
of F-5 aircraft from the US reflects Arab pressure on
