The Slovakian countryside, with the Tatra Mountains visible in the distance. The Tatras are the highest mountain range in the Carpathian Mountains and form a natural border between Slovakia and Poland. About 78% of the Tatras lie within Slovakia as does the highest peak, Gerlachovsky Stit, at 2,655 m (8,710 ft).
