2. Since the early morning hours of 6 June 1955, the former Soviet traffic sheik
point on the Voralpen federal highway at the Wachtberg, Gemeinde Behamberg,
Bezirk Amstetten, has been re-occupied by Soviet soldiers. One soldier with
rifle and fixed bayonet was standing guard and four to five soldiers were seen
nearby. Persons and vehicles have so far not been checked. The guard merely
asked several persons whether they had seen a Soviet soldier, presumably a deserter.
3. Soviet surveying teams have also been reported in the district of Urfahr, Upper
Austria. They planted 10 meter high poles at Feldkirchen, Oeser ach, Muehldorf,
Freudenstein, Bergheim, Weidet, Walding, St. Gotthard and Goldwoerth. Similar
surveying poles were observed at St. Peter, St. Ulrich and Simaden in the Rohrbach
district. The Soviet teams also checked and corrected photographic maps by insert-
ing any new buildings in the districts named above. Other objects were photographed
from several sides.
